I was part of a special program last year. Through it, I had the chance to get to know some of my colleagues on a much deeper and more personal level. I had admiration and respect for them when we embarked on our journey, but that was only from our interactions in the office. Through this program, we shared our life experiences as women. We discussed things that happened outside of work, shared our life timelines on how we got to where we are and who we are, and supported each other during some difficult times.
It was all done over zoom.
It was done during the beginning of the Pandemic when our lives where thrown into the air like an unbound deck of cards.
What we had each Friday at noon, was the gravity that was so dearly needed to bring the cards back down.
The program, Amplify, provided us prompts to make us think and question what we thought was true, only to discover that at times, things that we thought were true, weren’t. For example, the times when I didn’t think that I had anything to contribute, or had achieved very much. Let me tell you, those women put me in my place!
That’s why I’m excited about a new adventure. Who knows if it will work, but I’m going to give it a try. If I get scared, or start to second guess myself, I’ll pretend to be one of them talking to me about me 🙂
I’m going to begin working on a new creative project, a podcast. On it, I’ll interview all of the amazing women I know. Women who are successful in life, family, career. Maybe one, maybe all. We’ll talk about a time when they surprised themselves, a time when they learned about their resilience and the ways that their childhood dreams have manifested in their present day. The podcast won’t be long. I’d like to keep it under fifteen minutes, but imagine it will be closer to twenty-five.
